How big is a 45 oz tomahawk steak?
Tomahawk is a long bone ribeye & is cut from between the 6th and 12th rib of the beef cow and weighs approximately 45 ounces. It’s a bone-in rib-eye, and the bone is Frenched to give the steak its distinctive “handle.” 10-inch handle makes this steak memorable!
The tomahawk steak is a large and heavy slab of beef which serves two to eight people, making it an excellent choice for your next dinner party. Its dramatic appearance when served adds to the flair of presentation, which is certain to impress your guests. The high quality of the tomahawk steak makes it significantly more expensive than other types of steak. Its juiciness and tenderness are due to the fact that it is cut from the ribeye, which has a higher fat content than other parts of the beef. The marbled fat distributed throughout the meat adds a richness that can be tasted even when cut into thin slices, which will be greatly appreciated by your guests. There are many different cuts of steak, but one of the more unique variations is the tomahawk steak. The bone-in ribeye steak is carved straight from the ribeye and trimmed using a technique known as Frenching to obtain the cut. This gives the steak its distinctive bone handle, which inspired the name Tomahawk steak, as it resembles a Native American tomahawk axe.
