On the plus side, Unicorn is still considered a Tier 0 healer while Shouhou is at Tier 1, making them good healing options.Perseus was actually the ship that I was looking forward to the most when the Aurora Noctis event was first teased. I mean, Howe is pretty good. Well, actually, Howe is more than pretty good, she’s really good. But as someone who likes ships with unique or offbeat mechanics, Perseus was the one that really caught my eye when the previews first started coming out. Needless to say, I was pretty stoked once that telltale timer of 2:30 popped up during special limited construction while I was throwing cubes at the build menu.

Then there’s Perseus’ third skill, Waters of Styx, which is pretty unique. In addition to increasing her hangar size to three, it also heals 1% of the max HP of all ships in her current fleet every 20 seconds. That might not sound like much but it still adds up to 3% total in a minute. What makes it even more interesting is the fact that it will also heal ships in the fleet that Perseus is not it. Basically, 20 seconds after your other fleet launches, Perseus will heal the other fleet’s vanguard for 3% of their max HP. Again, it might not seem like much but it’s great for, say, healing some of the initial damage that your boss fleet sustains at the start of a skirmish before the boss shows up.

From her fluttering hair, billowing dress, angel wings and elegant rigging, Perseus exudes an almost heavenly look that projects an anime-style design with Hellenic sensibilities. The addition of an owl, which is typically associated with the Greek goddess Athena is also a nice touch. This is especially true for fans of the original “Clash of the Titans” movie from 1988, where protagonist Perseus’ was gifted a mechanical owl named Bubo.In that sense, Perseus’ main competition role-wise would be either Unicorn or Shouhou, with Unicorn being the closest one. Let’s see how she stacks up against these two. Perseus is rated as a “Tier 0” ship for healing and ranks either in first place just ahead of Ryuuhou or second behind the Japanese light carrier depending on which endgame tier list you look at. For folks unfamiliar with those tier lists, they basically rank the viability of the ships for the hardest maps in the game, which is World 13 as of this article. Don’t let her pouty muttering fool you, however. Perseus is arguably the best healer in the game, not just for the PVE campaign but for the new Operation Siren mode as well. Chalk it up to two pre-loaded heals that can heal both your vanguard and the backline as well.Add the extra healing from Waters of Styx, including the ability to heal the fleet that Perseus is not in, and her overall healing output exceeds the other two, especially within the first minute of a skirmish. With her two pre-loaded airstrikes plus her third regular airstrike after that and the extra heals from Waters of Styx, you’re looking at about 24% HP healed for the Vanguard and 13.5% for the backline in the first minute vs. 16% (for the frontline only) with Unicorn and Shouhou.

Having two preloaded heals is also great for mob fleets as it allows you to either top out or at least recover a nice amount of health of your ships at the beginning of a fight if they happened to receive damage from a previous sortie. There will be times when I’m using Unicorn and Shouhou, for, example, where I’m not able to heal damage from a previous fight because I kill enemies too fast and their heals don’t come out before I finish a battle. The pre-loaded strikes also give you the flexibility to heal when you want, which gives Perseus extra utility. In terms of healing, Unicorn and Shouhou can heal 8% of the Vanguard’s health while Perseus’ frontline healing is a smidgen lower at 7%. However, Perseus can also heal 3.5% of your backline ships’ max HP, which Unicorn and Shouhou can’t do. That’s definitely worth the 1% reduction in frontline healing. I’ve since used Perseus, not only getting her at max limit break and past Level 100 but also maxing out her skills. Now that I’ve got plenty of experience using the ship in battles, I figured now is a good time as any to share my thoughts about Her Majesty’s newest healer.Here are some loadout ideas for Perseus depending on whether you want more offense or faster airstrikes. These are pre-Operation Siren recommendations, by the way.

She is also, hands down, the best healer for Operation Siren. Her ability to heal the vanguard and main fleets combined with her two pre-loaded heals makes her an essential addition to your Operation Siren mob fleet. For regular mobs, she can basically let your mob fleet eliminate all foes while keeping the HP of ships in her fleet topped off. Then you also have her cross fleet heal, which, while small, still helps in the long run.Perseus’ second skill is called Athena’s Catapult. This basically sends out a special airstrike every 12 seconds. The type of planes are random and either comprise a Sea Hornet, TBF Avenger, or Fairey Firefly squadron. Damage depends on how high you level up the skill.

Also, while she may be a better pure healer, Unicorn and Shouhou have a key advantage over Perseus in the form of fleet buffing. Shouhou, for example, can boost the Aviation stat of all carriers by 15% for eight seconds after she launches an airstrike. Unicorn, meanwhile, increases the Reload stat of your Vanguard by 15% as long as she’s alive.Also, to minimize the impact of the 90% cooldown increase on subsequent airstrikes, you can use a Homing Beacon auxiliary equipment to decrease airstrike load times by 4% and also equip fast-launching planes.

The support skills from Akashi and Vestal, meanwhile, are primarily used outside of battle where they can heal with Repair Kits and also extend the number of fights that a fleet can engage in before running out of ammo. Mid-battle, their role switches more to Anti-Air support since they can equip two AA guns and their healing isn’t quite as punchy as other dedicated healers.Ryuuhou, on the other hand, specializes in focused heals. Instead of healing a group of ships, she targets the most damaged ship, making her especially good for sortieing with fleets that have squishier ships like destroyers in their vanguard.

One issue with the pre-loaded airstrikes is that they aren’t as conducive to autoplay. This is especially true for fights where you start out at full health because the airstrikes are wasted when used in the beginning. Normally, I end up going manual during the first one or two sorties then switch to auto after that unless I don’t care about optimizing my healing and I’m feeling lazy.Admittedly, I thought her attitude was disconcerting at first. As the relationship between her and the “shikikan” improved, however, I realized that Perseus is just an awkward character who has a hard time communicating and expressing herself. Eventually, I found myself cracking up when I hear her seemingly muttering to herself in a corner about personal issues and her own inadequacies. These moments are especially comical because the words coming out of her mouth totally don’t match her cute, angelic look. Her “seiyu” or voice actress Naomi Ohzora also does a great job in portraying the character’s personality. I must say that her attitude has since grown on me and she’s definitely turned into one of my favorite characters in the game.

In terms of damage, Perseus’ Aviation stat is below Shouhou Retrofit and slightly above Unicorn. Then again, her efficiency for planes tops out at 100% while Unicorn goes up to 130%. Shouhou, meanwhile, goes up to 145% for her Dive Bombers and 135% for her Torpedo Bombers. That being said, Perseus can still potentially out-damage both due to her pre-loaded airstrikes and Athena’s Catapult skill —‌ provided a fight ends quickly. If a fight goes longer, then she starts to get out-damaged by Unicorn and especially a retrofitted Shouhou.

With the release of the Aurora Noctis event, Azur Lane released the Kraken by welcoming another healer to the fold. Overall, I like her a lot and that’s coming from someone who leveled up my Shouhou Retrofit to 120. She’s pretty much my most-used healer since I got her, and I’ve really been enjoying her mechanics. Add her excellent character design plus an amusing personality and I’ve been quite happy with her so far.Arizona, for example, is primarily a Battleship that happens to also have a chance to heal so her role is different from Perseus. Arizona’s heal can also be inconsistent so you normally don’t use her as a primary healer in stages that require major healing. The same can be said for Honoka, who is like an improved version of Arizona.

The top ships of Group A+ are Helena (Light cruiser) and Essex (Aircraft Carrier). These two are the best ships. They can destroy the strongest enemies. Two of the ships in Group A are Portland (Heavy cruiser) and Vestal (Repair ship). They are not as powerful as the upper group but still have an impact on the game.The second part is during battle, every time Alabama sinks an enemy ship, she gets the same +2.5% FP/AA buff. The buff you get this way lasts until this battle ends. The +FP/AA Buff can stack up to 8 times max (this is probably a bug but it is 8 for now). So the max FP/AA you can get is 20%. After reaching max buff she also reduces all damage taken for the backline by 8%.

Belfast has the ability to destroy the light and heavily armored ships in the game. And with the Barrage perk, you can also provide some damage to the enemies. Belfast plays an important role in both PVE and PVP battles. If Belfast is paired with Queen Elizabeth, she will become very lethal. Belfast offers the highest offensive statistics as compared to other ships.The retrofit requires a special event item to finish. If you miss this item, you cannot complete the retrofit! So make sure to grab it now from playing the mini-game!

Overall I’d rate Nicholas Retrofit slightly above Javelin Retrofit, she is definitely a good choice whenever you need a Destroyer, especially when you need a tanky one. Since she is dropped only on a very annoying map, getting Nicholas is fairly difficult. If you are only looking for a good destroyer, I do not recommend going through the trouble of farming Nicholas.The only weakness of Centaur is that she is classed as a Light Carrier, so in hard mode maps you can’t use her to fill in the Carrier slot. Other than that she is pretty much a perfect carrier.
