Fisker Ocean Forums

“Fisker is delivering on our SOP commitment despite a challenging environment due to our focused collaboration with all of our partners and suppliers. We are making deliberate choices on how to best deploy capital and structure our assembly volumes for a successful ramp.”

The company says it is now focused on execution and is in the process of transitioning its engineering and purchasing teams to PEAR. As for reservations, Fisker claims it has over 5,000 of them as of October 31, compared to 4,000 in August.Fisker also noted that net reservations and orders for the Ocean totaled over 62,000 as of October 31, 2022, compared to the 58,000 reservations Fisker said it had in August. Fisker will begin taking firm orders for the Ocean in select global markets starting in mid-January 2023 with the Extreme trim. Retail customer deliveries are expected to begin in February 2023 following European and US homologation.

Can I still reserve Fisker Ocean One?
Pre-orders for the launch edition Fisker Ocean One are now closed.
At first, the company will focus production and delivery on orders for the limited edition Ocean One, which will be the only model built until Q2 2023. After that, production of the Ocean Extreme will also begin. But before all that, Fisker will deliver a small commercial fleet of 15 Oceans to Magna in December 2022.

EV startup Fisker has announced financial results for the third quarter and updated reservation numbers for both the Ocean SUV and PEAR entry-level model.
The startup added that production of Fisker Ocean customer vehicles at Magna Steyr’s plant in Austria will begin as planned on November 17, which is exactly two weeks from now. From the start of production to the end of 2023, the company plans to build 42,400 Ocean units.Fisker also had some updates to share about the PEAR entry-level EV. Development is progressing well, with the first concept phase being signed off. Interestingly, the company expects to have a drivable prototype “ahead of time,” without providing a timeline. The ambitious production plan is based on a detailed four-stage supplier ramp up, developed to help ensure that parts suppliers would follow the company’s anticipated production ramp volumes. For 2023, Fisker plans to build 300 Ocean EVs in Q1, over 8,000 in Q2, over 15,000 in Q3, and over 19,000 in Q4. Fisker says the Ocean saw double-digit increase in premium trim configurations in recent months. That’s not exactly a surprise seeing as the base Fisker Ocean Sport and mid-range Fisker Ocean Ultra trim levels are sold out in the US for 2023.

Things are looking pretty good at the moment, with Fisker disclosing it had more than $824 million of cash and cash equivalents as of September 30, 2022. The company said this reflects its “prudent liquidity management and positions the Fisker Ocean for a successful launch.”On November 13, 2017, Fisker Inc. announced that it had filed patents on flexible solid-state battery designs, expecting the batteries to be produced on a mass scale around 2023. A prototype of the battery, which included 21700 NCM cells from LG Chem, debuted at the Consumer Electronics Show in January 2018. Fisker’s development team included Fabio Albano, one of the founders of Sakti3, the solid-state battery startup sold to Dyson in 2015. Solid-state batteries have greater energy density and faster charging times than lithium-ion batteries. In October 2018, Fisker Inc. announced new funding through Caterpillar Venture Capital, a subsidiary of the Caterpillar Inc. heavy-machinery manufacturing company, with the money going toward development of Fisker Inc.’s solid-state battery technology.

Should I reserve Fisker?
Reserving Your Fisker PEAR While $250 is a lot of money to lock up for nearly 2 years, it will save us thousands of dollars if we can purchase the PEAR in 2024 as opposed to 2025. If you’re at all interested in the Fisker PEAR, you’ll want to reserve yours now.

Later named the Fisker Ocean, the company advertises that it will have a range of “close to 300 miles”, available on the lowest-cost option. The SUV will be offered in both rear- and all-wheel drive. The company states that it will be supplied by a lithium-ion battery pack with a capacity of around 80 kWh and a solar panel roof as a range extender, adding approximately 1,000 free miles of range per year. The company claims that the Fisker Ocean is being designed with a large number of recycled materials and with sustainability in mind.

In 2016, Fisker Inc. teamed up with Nanotech Energy to create a joint venture called Fisker Nanotech, with Jack Kavanaugh as chairman. They worked on developing a next-generation supercapacitor technology using graphene. The proposed hybrid battery using graphene supercapacitors had the potential for improved energy conducting and charging capabilities, and a better cycle life, so that the battery would not need to be swapped out as often as a pure lithium-ion battery. In July 2017, Fisker Inc. ended its joint venture with Nanotech Energy to produce batteries using graphene.

In 2014, Fisker Automotive’s assets were purchased by Wanxiang Group, which renamed its new company Karma Automotive. Henrik Fisker retained the Fisker trademarks and brand.

*Based on assumption that home power consumption is 50% normal use during emergency situations. Additional equipment for connection to home is required. We are an independent site dedicated to reporting news and reviews on electric vehicles. Although we started with a focus on Fisker, we have expanded our coverage with CH4RGE to include all electric vehicles, EV charging, and EV-related stocks.

Fisker Ocean owners can now understand the charging times associated with their electric SUVs better with these updated details. It will enable them to plan their charging strategies accordingly. For instance, they can utilize DC fast charging for quick and convenient charging during travel or when they have limited time. In comparison, they can identify that Level 2 charging is more suitable for regular daily charging, especially when they have sufficient time for longer charging durations.
Today, we’ll make sense of the recent Fisker Ocean charging times published by Fisker. As you may know, Fisker recently released the official specification sheet for the top trim of their flagship electric SUV. This sheet provided a wealth of valuable information for prospective owners of the Fisker Ocean One and Extreme. It unveiled specifications related to exterior design, interior features, cargo capacity, weight, and performance.Just like depleting it under 10%, occasionally charging to 100% is not detrimental to the battery’s health. We do it from time to time with our current electric vehicle before long drives. If you have a long trip planned or need a full charge for a specific reason, charging to 100% is acceptable. Ultimately, finding the optimal charging range for your Fisker Ocean will depend on your needs and charging infrastructure availability. These are good guidelines to follow until Fisker provides precise guidance.

Fortunately, Fisker published additional details this week, shedding light on the charging times for the Fisker Ocean One and Extreme. The company stated that these trims will offer a charging time of 33 minutes and 6 seconds for DC fast charging, enabling a charge from 10% to 80% capacity. Furthermore, Fisker shared that both Mode 3 charging, used in Europe, and Level 2 charging, used in North America, will require 12 hours to fully charge from 0% to 100%.
Charging your Fisker Ocean within this range offers several advantages. Firstly, it maximizes the battery lifespan by reducing stress and wear from frequent charging. Secondly, it also allows for efficient charging, as EV batteries charge more rapidly at lower charge levels. Maintaining a moderate charge range ensures enough battery capacity for daily driving while leaving room for unexpected trips or emergencies.

Affiliate or sponsored links included in articles will be labeled as such.Fisker hasn’t shared the optimal charging range for the Fisker Ocean yet. We’ve researched this area and found that the best range for charging the Fisker Ocean depends on your needs and preferences. It’s important to charge your electric SUV within a range that allows for everyday usage without excessive battery depletion. We recommend keeping the battery level between 20% and 80%.Suppose you are on a road trip, and your Fisker Ocean’s battery is running low. In this situation, you should utilize DC fast charging at a charging station along your route. This approach will allow you to recharge your Hyper Range battery quickly and resume your journey in a shorter amount of time. Conversely, if you have several hours available for charging while at home overnight, you should connect your Fisker Ocean to a Mode 3 or Level 2 charger while you’re asleep. We hold shares in Fisker Inc. (NYSE: FSR) as well as other stocks unrelated to electric vehicles. We hold a long beneficial ownership position in Fisker through stock. The information provided in Fiskerati articles are general in nature and should not be relied upon as personal financial advice.

In fact, we discovered that the battery capacity for the Fisker Ocean One and Extreme is 113 kWh gross. We recently obtained information that the net (usable) capacity amounts to 107 kWh. Fisker also published charging times for Mode 3, a European standard, and DC fast charging, which were 12 hours and 33 minutes and 6 seconds, respectively. However, they did not disclose the battery percentage range for these charging times. In a social media post, he said, “I saw this car unfinished “body in white” yesterday around noon, then the same day at 5 pm it comes down the line. The MACHINE is running! We achieved manufacturing milestones ahead of SOP! 95 Fisker Oceans built so far!” You can see a compilation of the videos below. Official start of production is 49 days away commencing on November 17th, 2022. Back on August 18th, Fisker had 58,000 reservations. That means the company added over 2,000 reservations over the past 43 days. While we don’t know exactly how many Fisker Ocean reservations the company has beyond 60,000, we do know there are 93 days remaining in 2022. Henrik remained upbeat at the Morgan Stanley investor conference in mid-September. At the time, the company had strong demand for its electric SUV. Even with a huge backlog, reservations remain open for customers to get into the reservation queue. It will be interesting to see if Fisker Ocean demand remains strong given the weakening macro environment. That would be really neat, but I don’t think that will happen. We could envision Fisker doing that for one Fisker Ocean, but not 5,000 or 40,000 electric SUVs.

How many preorders for Fisker Ocean?
Today, Fisker reported over 60,000 reservations for the Fisker Ocean. This includes 5,000 sold out Fisker Ocean Ones, each secured by a $5,000 deposit.
You may have wondered how the Fisker Ocean is painted. We recorded a virtual tour showing the paint process at Magna Steyr for you to get a closer look. The video also shows how your Fisker Ocean will be built on the high volume assembly line.During the Cowen investor conference, Henrik said the company projected over 80,000 reservations before the end of the year. If we assume Fisker needs 20,000 reservations to hit 80,000 reservations by year-end, the company needs 215 reservations/day to achieve this number. Henrik Fisker shared new photos and videos with us too that were quite impressive. He showed a Fisker Ocean partly built on the Magna Steyr assembly line in the afternoon. Then, he shared the same Fisker Ocean again at 5pm on the same day showing it fully built. And this morning he showed off the same Fisker Ocean with several other Fisker Oceans fully built. As he says, “The MACHINE” is running! Today, Fisker reported over 60,000 reservations for the Fisker Ocean. This includes 5,000 sold out Fisker Ocean Ones, each secured by a $5,000 deposit. It also includes the US allocation of pre-orders taken during the month of August. Fisker expected 50k reservations by the end of the year and has surpassed that number months ago.Fisker shared a lot of new photos and videos today as it announced the achievement of a production milestone. For example, we got to see photos of the Fisker Ocean in the paint booth. The photos show the electric SUV during prep, primer, and paint on the high volume production line at Magna Steyr.

How many people reserve Fisker Ocean?
Fisker also noted that net reservations and orders for the Ocean totaled over 62,000 as of October 31, 2022, compared to the 58,000 reservations Fisker said it had in August. Fisker will begin taking firm orders for the Ocean in select global markets starting in mid-January 2023 with the Extreme trim.

While $250 is a lot of money to lock up for nearly 2 years, it will save us thousands of dollars if we can purchase the PEAR in 2024 as opposed to 2025.Since last week, Fisker has probably added another 175 reservations. That means the next 26,625 reservations holders have a good chance of locking in the 2024 pricing of $29,900.

Fisker said it would lock-in the price of the Fisker Ocean for the first 40,000 reservation holders. After that, Fisker can’t guarantee pricing will remain static. However, it will try its best to hold pricing steady thanks to its asset-light business model. The same thing will apply to Fisker PEAR pricing throughout 2024. We will explain.
The Fisker PEAR will start production in the second half of 2024. At peak production, the Foxconn factory in Lordstown will produce 250,000 units/year or 20,833 units/month.
