He was a devoted and faithful father and grandfather, Harley Davidson enthusiast, Earnhardt fanatic, Miller-Lite drinkin’, El Camino cruisin’, good-time man. John could fix anything and loved to tinker. He loved to tell and listen to a good story, and his laugh was contagious. Cooking for a crowd and “shaking a leg” were just a couple of many of his specialties. He valued loyalty, hard work, and love.John is also survived by his sisters, Marilyn S. Mainwaring (Matthew) of Sims and Debra R. Viator (Robert) of Broussard, LA; special nieces and nephews, Casey, Nikki, Jessie John, Rachel, Robert, Robyn, and their families, and aunts, Laura Ann Walker (Kenny) of Kinston and Maude R. John is survived by his long-time partner, Katharine Taylor Rouse, and children, William Travis Rouse and Katharine Olivia Rouse, all of Kinston. Betty Joyce Killingsworth Johnson was born on April 8, 1943 to Doc and Thelma Killingsworth and died, surrounded by family, on June 5, 2023. Clinton “Clint” Heath Smith, 48, of Deep Run, passed away after a brief illness on Sunday, January 15th, 2023 surrounded by his loving family.
