One that saw the Rockets share the Fox Valley Association regular season championship and finish the regular season with a record of 23-3.Under the direction of the Boy’s Varsity Head Coach (Lee Rabas), Neenah Boys Hoops Club provides a competitive youth basketball program for boys in grades 2-8. Our philosophy is to give young athletes from Neenah, WI a chance to develop their individual skills as well as their understanding and execution of team concepts as they relate to the game of basketball. Our goal is to do this in a positive and dynamic manner that will help participants develop and foster a healthy attitude toward basketball, athletics, and competition.

Both teams lacked home court advantage in the series, only winning on the road until the Rockets won Game 6 at The Summit and advanced to the NBA Finals. In the Finals, they swept the Orlando Magic in four straight games, and won their second consecutive championship, with Olajuwon being named Finals MVP for the second straight year. As the 6th seed in the 1995 playoffs, the 1994–95 Rockets to date are the lowest seeded team in league history to win an NBA championship.Olajuwon averaged 27.8 points, 10.8 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 1.8 steals and 3.4 blocks per game, and was selected for the 1995 NBA All-Star Game, while Drexler averaged 21.4 points, 7.0 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 1.7 steals per game in 35 games with the Rockets after the trade. Olajuwon and Drexler were both named to the All-NBA Third Team. In addition, Vernon Maxwell provided the team with 13.3 points per game, while Kenny Smith contributed 10.4 points per game, and Robert Horry averaged 10.2 points per game. Off the bench, second-year guard Sam Cassell provided with 9.5 points and 4.9 assists per game, while Mario Elie contributed 8.8 points per game, and Carl Herrera averaged 6.8 points and 4.6 rebounds per game. Olajuwon also finished in fifth place in Most Valuable Player voting, and in third place in Defensive Player of the Year voting. According to Robert Horry, when David Robinson was given his MVP trophy before a game in the San Antonio-Houston Western Conference Finals, Hakeem leaned over to him and snarled “That’s MY trophy”, leading Horry to silently say “Uh-oh” in accurate expectation of the hell Hakeem was about to unleash on the Spurs.

Following the season, Maxwell signed as a free agent with the Philadelphia 76ers. Maxwell had a controversial season, which involved him punching a fan during a road game against the Trail Blazers on February 6, which cost him a ten-game suspension, and leaving the team during the playoffs after being replaced with Drexler as the team’s starting shooting guard. Meanwhile, Murray signed with the newly expansion Toronto Raptors, Herrera signed with the San Antonio Spurs, and rookie center Žan Tabak left in the 1995 NBA Expansion Draft.Our philosophy of the Neenah Girls Basketball Club is to provide the young ladies who participate in the program with as many opportunities as possible, while still fielding the most competitive teams. “My mum before the game told me that no woman has ever won two World Cups so just to be the first, and to make history like that, really I just have a ton of gratitude for USA Basketball for continuing to trust me and to select me for these rosters. It’s so surreal. As well as going home with medals around their necks, the top six teams across the men’s and women’s competitions have also guaranteed themselves a ticket to an Olympic Qualifying Tournament for Paris 2024.

The US women started their World Cup campaign with a loss to Canada before winning the next seven games to book their place in the final against France.Serbia’s men defended their title to win their sixth crown in eight editions of the FIBA 3×3 World Cup in Vienna, Austria, on Sunday (4 June) as the United States upset France in the women’s contest to claim victory.On her title as tournament MVP, the 21-year-old said: “It’s honestly surreal. I didn’t believe it. This is my first time 3×3 to be named MVP is a huge honour. I think all of my teammates were deserving. I am just really thankful.”It was a strategy that proved effective with France, struggling offensively, amassing a spate of fouls as they tried to pierce their way into the game.

“Our goal throughout the whole season was just to play our best basketball when March comes,” Klesmit said. “So the whole season we just wanted to keep getting better each and every day. Obviously, it was a pretty rough season for Neenah basketball. We’re not used to losing that many games. But to get back to the Kohl Center − that was our No. 1 goal for the year and we did that, so we were blessed.”

Arrowhead presents a formidable challenge. The second-seeded Warhawks won the Classic Eight title and their two losses came to Wisconsin Lutheran and Kettle Moraine.Rabas said he wants the team to enjoy the buildup to the state tournament and he knows the Rockets are entering the semifinals in a different role this season.Klesmit, a UW-Green Bay commit who missed all of his junior year due to a torn ACL, had a banner senior season and is leading the Rockets in scoring (18.5), rebounds (5.9) and assists (4.7). Brady Corso averages 16.1 points for Neenah, with Jackson Schlomann adding 8.5 points and 4.7 rebounds per game.Neenah finished fourth in the Fox Valley Association and had an up-and-down middle of its season after starting 6-0. The Rockets finally hit their stride in the postseason, rattling off four consecutive wins including a resounding 93-65 whipping of Superior in Saturday’s sectional final.

Mac Wrecke (18.0 ppg) leads the team in scoring with Austin Villarreal (17.9) and Bennett Basich (16.0 ppg, 9.2 rpg) also key starters. Wrecke is the school’s all-time leading scorer (1,998 points) and also a UW-Green Bay commit.

“I think it’s the best that I’ve ever had as a coach,” Haase said. “We’re blessed with kids that can score the basketball. We have four kids that are really good scorers and a couple off the bench who are good, too.”We’ve been practicing well,” Neenah coach Lee Rabas said. “Doing the little things. We’ve been more efficient on offense, finding better shots and making more shots and playing a little better defense.”

The defending D1 state champions have a modest record and were perhaps a surprise to reach Madison this season compared to a stellar 2021-22 campaign that saw them enter as the top seed and all the pressures of being the top dog.The Kohl Center in Madison, Wisconsin is set to host the exciting matchup between Arrowhead and Neenah on Friday in the second semifinal of the WIAAWI Division 1 Tournament. Neenah heads into the semifinal matchup with an overall record of 18-10 this season, with the team kicking off its participation in the regional tournament with a 60-45 win over Stevens Point on March 3. Neenah then beat Appleton West by 10 points on March 4, before taking a 13-point finish over the No. 2-seeded Hudson on March 9 to advance to the sectional championship game. There, Neenah took a 93-65 finish over Superior on March 11 to advance to the WIAAWI Division 1 tournament semifinals.

The Mustangs finished the season with a 28-3 record.Since announcing his resignation, Nausedas said, many former players and coaches have reached out to congratulate him on his career at Marlboro. He said he is thankful for the relationships he built from his first varsity team (2012-13) to his last (2021-22).As a teacher at the Marlboro Middle School, Nausedas knew there were a lot of talented players in the community and that the Marlboro Basketball Association was doing a great job developing players.

Coaching his team in the Group IV state championship game against Elizabeth High School marked the end to Nausedas’ “amazing” 10-year run with Marlboro. His vision of success had come true and he could not have asked for a better ending with his team. In the end, Nausedas achieved his goal as he led the Mustangs to new heights. His teams went 153-94 in a decade, played in three Shore Conference Tournament championship games, two state sectional tournament championship games and one Group IV state tournament championship game. He believed the ingredients were there for the high school program to achieve success. What he needed to do to was to keep those players in Marlboro and not have them elect to attend a private school or another school in the FRHSD.After two straight seasons of heartbreaking losses in tournament championship games, Nausedas and the Mustangs persevered to win the school’s first state sectional tournament title.

“It’s like a storybook ending. We did a lot of amazing things. To go out on top like that (winning the conference and state sectional tournament titles) was amazing. I am very happy these guys gave me this,” he said.
