He was a faithful parishioner of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church. Phillip was a family man. He was so proud of his granddaughters, and he loved to talk about them to whoever would listen. He loved to fish and was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. Most mornings he could be found at McDonald’s drinking coffee with the “coffee crew”, visiting at the funeral home, and the Kinder Sale Barn. Phillip proudly served Kinder and the surrounding communities for 38 years. It was his lifelong dream to own and operate his own Funeral Home. He purchased the property in 2012 and Reed Funeral Home began operations. He also worked for Halliburton for 16 years. Mr. Reed took pride in his work and helping many families. He will be greatly missed. Dane is a native of Kinder, Louisiana, the son of Alveno “Mano” and Mildred Fontenot. He attended Kinder High School and graduated with the class of 1974. He married Carla Savant in 1975 and they began their life together. They have four children, Derek Blaine, Randi Lenee’, Trent Allen, and Alanea Denise and four grandchildren, Karralyna, Tyee Allen, Aisley Marie, and Byrc Leon. Before he graduated high school Dane started working with his dad. After he graduated, he spent his working years as a master carpenter, cabinet builder, and as a production manager until he retired in 2019. He is a lifelong member of Kingsfarm United Pentecostal Church and has lived in the community of Kingsfarm his entire life. He loves to take care of his church and serve in whatever area that he is able. His hobbies are cutting grass, grilling, and raising his grandkids. He has been employed with Reed – Riley Smith & Son’s Funeral Home since 2022. Dane is a great asset to the Reed – Riley Smith Son’s family. Maggie was born in Kinder. She attended Kinder High School and was in the graduating Class of 1978. She married her husband, Stephen, in December 1978. Together they raised 3 kids and have 6 wonderful grandkids. She spent 22 years at Allen Parish School Board as a bus driver. Maggie loves spending time with her grandkids and rocking in her rocking chair. She has been employed with Reed – Riley Smith & Son’s Funeral Home since 2017. Maggie is a great asset to the Reed – Riley Smith & Son’s family.
