A car was stopped in the area of West Broadway Boulevard and South Vermont Avenue early Sunday morning for several moving violations. A check of the driver revealed she was a suspended driver out of Missouri. Angela D. Marquez, 33, of Jefferson City, was arrested and transported to the Sedalia Police Department. Marquez was issued a citation for Driving While Suspended.

Sunday afternoon, Officers were dispatched to a subject check in the area of the 500 block of South Grand Avenue. A male subject was located and spoken with. The male was intoxicated and informed Officers that his children were at his residence alone. Officers responded to the 600 block of East 16th Street to heck on the welfare of the children, who were deemed safe. The children were picked up by their mother due to lack of care from the male. No charges were submitted.

Officers were dispatched to a report of found property in the 1700 block of West 9th Street Sunday morning. Cynthia L. Hodge reported a light blue Roadmaster, Granite Peak bicycle had been abandoned. The serial number on the bicycle is R3013WML.Officers responded to the Police Department lobby for a report of harassment Friday morning. Officers spoke to the reporting party, who stated that someone had posted private sexual images to her Facebook. At the time of the report, a suspect has not been located.

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the Goody’s Steak Burgers, 901 South Limit Avenue, Friday afternoon to look for a suspicious subject with a knife in his hand walking along the street. Officers located the suspect, who was still carrying the knife. Officers spoke with him, and he agreed to put the knife back in its sheath. After checking the suspect’s name with Dispatch, it was confirmed that he had a warrant out of the state of Florida. James H. Kreisel, 25, of Sedalia, was taken into custody and two knives were taken off of him. Kriesel was then transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was held as a Fugitive From Justice.Sunday night, Officers were dispatched to the 300 block of Scott Joplin Court in reference to a child investigation. A parent left three young children at the home unattended for a short time. The mother arrived and contact was made. A report and hotline call has been made of the incident.Saturday morning, Officers spoke with Diep T. Nguyen, who reported a theft of an Amazon package from her front porch in the 3200 block of Buckingham Drive. There are no suspects at this time.

Saturday morning, Officers were dispatched to the 400 block of East Chestnut Street in regards to some found property. David Sanders stated that he noticed the items in the alley a couple of days ago and no one has come around to get it. The property was taken back to the Police Department and placed into Found Property.On the afternoon of Friday June 11th, Sedalia Police were dispatched to the 400 block of East 2nd Street to assist in a child abuse investigation. While the child had marks, a reasonable explanation was provided. A general information report was taken to document the incident.

Saturday afternoon, Officers arrived at the area of Irene Circle and James Lane for a report of a suicidal subject. Officers were originally heading to the area of the 3100 block of Erika Avenue, when they saw a male subject running in the wooded area nearby. Officers went to that location, and saw a male standing in the wooded area. Officers recognized the suspect from another incident and placed him under arrest. Officers had been informed the suspect had probable cause for arrest because of a domestic assault he was involved in. Jonathan Enrique Jamison, 27, of Sedalia, was taken to the Pettis County Jail and placed on a 24 hour hold pending charges of Domestic Assault in the 2nd Degree. DNA was taken at the arrest time. The suspect was not the individual related to the suicidal subject.On the evening of June 13th, Officers responded to the 600 block of East 12th for a report of assault. Upon arrival, Officers made contact with the caller, who stated that a male known to her had entered her residence while she was sleeping, held her down, and began kissing her. A witness entered the residence and was able to get the suspect to leave. The suspect is known at the time of the report, and charges are being sought.On the evening of June 8th, Officers responded to a reported non injury hit and run accident. The suspect was identified. Louisa Janine Doyle, 29, was identified and issued a Uniform Traffic Ticket for Leaving the Scene of an Accident. Sedalia Police were dispatched to the 2000 East 7th in regard to a report of property damage Saturday afternoon. Early that morning, someone had gone by the residence and shot at vehicles in the driveway, causing damage to the back windows of one and the frame of another. Felicia and Patrick Brown were able to provide the name of a suspect and the incident was caught on video. Saturday afternoon, Officers were dispatched to the area of the 800 block of Crescent Drive for a male banging on doors and yelling. Officers made contact with the subject, who was intoxicated and stated he was off his medications. The subject had minor injuries, some from breaking a glass pane and others of unknown origin. Thomas B. Walje, 47, of Sedalia, was arrested for a protective custody hold, treated at the Bothwell Regional Health Center, and then booked at the Pettis County Jail. That same afternoon, Sedalia Police responded to the 2300 block of East 10th Street for a male disturbing the peace of another. Officers arrived and found it was the same subject Officers had contact with two prior times, and received six calls for service on. The suspect was previously released from jail following a protective custody hold two hours before. Walje was arrested on charges of Peace Disturbance and Resisting Arrest. Walje was transported back to the Pettis County Jail, where was placed on a 24 hour hold pending formal charges.Sedalia Police responded to the 1500 block of South Stewart Avenue to take a theft report Saturday afternoon. On arrival, Officers spoke with the caller, who reported his bicycle stolen. The caller requested the incident be documented only. A computer check through Dispatch revealed the caller had an active Failure to Appear warrant out of Pettis County on original charges of Failure to Register a Motor Vehicle. Christopher L. Fitzpatrick, 26, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail where his bond was set at $125 cash only.

Saturday night, Officers responded to the lobby of the Police Department for a theft report. Officers made contact with Wraymond Merriott, who stated that his truck was in the 1200 block of South Limit Avenue when someone entered his truck and took his wallet from the vehicle. Merriott stated that the theft occurred between Thursday night and Friday morning. Merriott also stated that his vehicle was left unlocked. There are no suspects at the time of the report.Sedalia Police performed a traffic stop on a white Honda passenger car Sunday evening as the vehicle did not have a front license plate and the registered owner of the vehicle showed an active Pettis County warrant. Officers stopped the car near West Main Street and South Grand Avenue. Investigation during the stop revealed the driver was in possession of marijuana. His warrant, a Pettis County Failure to Appear on original charges of Driving While Intoxicated was confirmed with a bond of $250 cash. Alberto Cano, 24, of Sedalia, was arrested for the warrant and a state charge of Possession of Marijuana. Cano was transported to the Pettis County Jail.

Saturday night, Officers were dispatched to the Motel 6, 3402 West Broadway Boulevard in reference to a disturbance. Upon arrival, Officers spoke to the subjects involved. A computer check revealed on subject had three active Failure to Appear warrants from Shelby County on original charges of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Shoplifting and Failure to Register a Motor Vehicle. Michael A. Etter, 30, of Sedalia, was arrested on the Failure to Appear warrants and transported to the Pettis County Jail with a total bond of $729 cash only.Officers responded to the area of Wilkerson and South Harrison Avenue for a report of a traffic complaint Saturday morning. A subject was reportedly driving backwards over curbs and through yards. Contact was made with the driver. After an investigation, it was determined that he was intoxicated. James Junior Baker, 22, of Smithton, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and Driving While Suspended. Baker was transported to the Sedalia Police Headquarters, and then to the Pettis County Jail, pending release to a sober person. Saturday evening, Officers were dispatched to the 2300 block of West Main Street in reference to a domestic disturbance. Officers spoke to both parties in the disturbance. Investigation revealed a male assaulted a female, which caused minor injuries. The suspect also took the victim’s phone, which prevented her from calling the Police. Leroy Alijenon Burks Jr., 34, of Sedalia, was arrested for Domestic Assault in the 4th Degree and Victim Tampering. Burks was transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was placed on a 24 hour hold. Sunday afternoon, Officers responded to the 1300 block of Walker Circle for reported drug activity. When Officers arrived, they made contact with the caller, who stated that there were individuals within the apartment using drugs. When Officers knocked on the door of the residence, the tenant opened the door. The tenant then consented to the search of his person and a search of the apartment. Several items of drug paraphernalia were located and taken to the Police Department for evidence.Sedalia Police were dispatched to the Centennial Park Friday morning for a report of a burglary. When Officers arrived, they spoke with Savannah Lynde. Lynde stated that the front door on the north and south concession stands by the baseball diamonds had been forced open, and in one of the concession stands, the money box was pried open. Officers took photos of the damage. No money was left in the concession stands overnight. Nothing was taken from inside the concession stands. The total estimated damage was valued at $470. There are no suspects at this time.

Last Tuesday morning, Officers were dispatched to a reported domestic assault in the 300 block of McAnally Court. The suspect is known, but has not been located at this time. The investigation continues.Friday night, Officers initiated a traffic stop on a van for a defective headlight and no license plates in the area of North Lamine Avenue and East Pettis Street. A check through Dispatch showed the driver’s license status was suspended. Phillip A. Miller, 23, of Independence, was arrested, transported to the Police Department and released with a city ticket for Driving While Suspended.

On the morning of June 8th, Officers were dispatched to a reported domestic assault in the 300 block of McAnally Court. The suspect is known, but has not been located at this time. The investigation continues.Last Monday afternoon, Officers were dispatched to a reported theft in the 300 block of West Benton Street. Francois Edner reported a catalytic converter was cut off and taken from a vehicle. The suspect is unknown at this time and the investigation is ongoing.On the afternoon of June 8th, Sedalia Police responded to the Hurricane Bay car wash, 850 Winchester Drive, for a found property report. On arrival, Officers spoke with an employee, James E. Scarbury. Scarbury had located a license plate at the business. The owner was unable to be contacted, and the license plate was placed into evidence at the Police Department for safekeeping.

Saturday morning, Officers responded to the 1100 block of South Massachusetts for a burglary report. When Police arrived, a female was leaving and getting into a vehicle. Officers made contact with the female and the reporting party. It was determined the female had entered the reporting parties residence without permission and used force to gain entry. After placing the female under arrest, Officers located a controlled substance in the female’s belongings. Anesha Nicole Sims, 30, of Sedalia, was then taken to the Pettis County Jail, where she was placed on a 24 hour hold pending charges of Burglary in the 2nd Degree, Property Damage in the 2nd Degree, and Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Early Saturday morning, an SUV was stopped in the area of Prestwick Farms and East Broadway Boulevard for failing to maintain its lane and speeding. After an investigation, it was determined that the driver was intoxicated. Michael T. Glenn, 35, of Smithton, was placed under arrest, transported to the Sedalia Police Department, the released to a sober person with a municipal citation for Driving While Intoxicated.Saturday morning, Officers were dispatched to the 800 block of West 32nd Street for a report of a property damage. When Officers arrived, they made contact with Brenda L. Cromley. Cromley stated that sometime overnight someone damaged the rear window of her 2004 Nissan Maxima. The value of the damage was estimated to be between $400 and $500. After closer examination, it appeared that the damage was caused by a BB gun. Officers took photos of the damage. There are no suspects at this time. Friday afternoon, Sedalia Police responded to the Wal Mart store, 3201 West Broadway Boulevard, for a theft report. The suspect was identified, arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail. Jacob J. Johnson, 33, of Cole Camp, was issued a municipal citation for Shoplifting, booked and released. We’ve reviewed the most recent FBI crime data to find Missouri’s top 10 most dangerous cities. Bellefontaine Neighbors is a suburb in St. Louis County and the second smallest town on the list, but it is one of the worst areas in Missouri for crime. There were 1,021 total crimes in the city in 2020, with a rate of 98.59 offenses per 1,000 residents.
