He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Old Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church. Later on in life he joined Saint James CME Church. Phillip served on the Usher Board for many years. Funeral Service for Wayne Davis, 89 of Spiro, Oklahoma will be at 2:00 on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at Cavanaugh Free Will Baptist Church in Fort Smith, Arkansas with Reverend Rick Davis, Reverend Gary Thomas, Reverend Will Harmon, and Reverend Ray Copeland officiating. Burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery in Spiro, Oklahoma under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home. Viewing will be 9:00am – 7:00pm Tuesday with the family visiting with friends 5:00pm-7:00pm.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 71 years, Wanda; children, Rick Davis and wife Michelle, Rhonda Thomas and husband Gary, and Russell Davis and wife, Sharon; grandchildren, Ricky Wayne Davis (Mirinda), Nickie Kersh (Jason), Joshua Thomas, Nick Davis (Adrienne), April Carter (Nick), Jon Thomas (Stacey), Jordan Thomas (Jessica), and Jenn Riley (Lance); great grandchildren, Mallory Reed (Dillon), Marshall Davis (Haley), Linux Kersh, Davis Carter, Babe Carter, Sydney Davis, Greenley Carter, Marissa Davis, Everett Thomas, Axton Thomas, Wyatt Thomas, Zachary Etzkorn, and Isabelle Etzkorn.
Roy Wayne Davis was born on August 29, 1933 in Moffett, Oklahoma to Bessie Mae (Floyd) and Roy Lynx Davis and passed away on April 22, 2023 in Spiro, Oklahoma. He married the love of his life, Wanda Lee Clark on April 1, 1952 in Spiro, Oklahoma. He was a longtime truck driver servicing most of his career with Consolidated Freightways, where he earned many safe driving awards and also won 1st Place in Truck Drivers Safety Competition in the state of Arkansas. He was passionate about serving God and loving his family and friends. Wayne was a member of Cavanaugh Free Will Baptist Church where he served in many capacities including working in the food bank, serving meals to the homeless, driving the Prime Timers on trips, and going on mission trips. Family gatherings, fishing and hunting with his buddies, and serving God were his favorite things in life. He will be remembered as a great man of God.In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by his son; Phillip Wayne Davis Jr., stepsons; David Scearce, Christopher Scearce, brothers; Reuben Steve Davis, Kevin Davis, and Keith Davis; sisters; Cindy Davis, Tracy Dent, Deanna Taylor, Annette Koulelis, step grandchildren; Bryant, Nicholas, Nathan, several nieces and nephews.
Phillip Wayne Davis, 67, passed away on May 15, 2023. He was born in Danville, VA on March 6, 1956 to Lessie Miller Davis Smith and the late Reuben Clark Davis. He is survived by his loving wife Jeanette Boaze Davis.
Phillip had a special love for fishing, landscaping in the yard, old cars, and riding his four wheelers. He worked as a service technician at the Ford Motor Company prior to his retirement.Rest In Peace Wayne. You are loved and will leave a big void in all of us who have known you. Gennie, you are in our thoughts and prayers. For many years, you & Wayne had been a big part of our family. Both of you were there and watched our kids grow up. You’ll always be the “Tita Gennie” and “Uncle Wayne” to them. My prayers are with you on this next chapter of your life.
He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Genevieve Davis; daughter, Beatriz (Corey) Sharp; three grandchildren, Preston, Jameson, and Lyanna; mother, Margaret Novi; and two brothers, Dwayne Davis and Shane (Susi) Davis. He was preceded in passing by his father and his son, Joshua Lee Davis.
